I was talking with HageshikuLady a couple days back and came to the realization that I had never done a full-body pic of Nina in her normal outfit XD so, I didn't have the best color ref for her...whoops XD
well, here it is XD Just a quick sketch done in Japanese class and now finished! XD I did her without her labcoat on (she's holding it though) and her gloves so that her underneath outfit would show better, lol.

Media: Pen inked sketch to Photoshop CS3 Time: 2.5 hours
...Um, is something wrong with her right leg? Or did she just get bored and wrap it all up?

Hmm... I do like the design of the clothes, but there are a lot of anatomical flaws. Her head is huge compared to her body, with no distinguishable jawline. Drawing her bangs lower and making the darker hair stick up less would probably help make her head look smaller and more proportionate. Her pose looks stiff and awkward, mostly because of her left(our right) leg-- positioning your leg like that is painful and best and impossible at worst. Turning the leg and foot more towards the viewer, similarly to the right leg, would look more natural. Doing that and putting her feet farther apart, I think, would improve it. (If you'd like, I can redline it to show you what I mean. >: My wording is baaaad)
lol, no i get what you said and I also know already how much this sucks, but it was simply made as a color ref for this character, since I didn't really have one in general, I have lots of problem with proportions, no matter how hard I try, so though I'm working on it, I still have a long way to go though...I reall didn't think her head was that bad >.> thanks for the critique

Ah, alright. If I may, I'd like to recommend something-- Andrew Loomis' books are very useful for learning proportions and such, and his books aren't too hard to come by. And you're quite welcome~ <:
lol, well, I'll have to see if I can try and find them then XD I actually suck at learning things from books (I'm a hands on learner better with an actual instructor than just reading samples), but I do have some random anatomy books at my house already. I just really can't make use of them, lmao XD

I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
